Introduction

Tour exciting London, England! Experience Renaissance music! Visit Shakespeare's Globe Theatre as you lure travelers to join your London travel group in Elizabethan times. As tour guides your purpose is to entice visitors through a sales presentation. As a tour guide you will travel with your group to see the sites of London. The highlight of the trip will be attending a Shakespearean play at the Globe Theatre.

 

 

Tasks

1. Each student will work in a cooperative group

2. Each member of the group will research one of the four
categories listed below:

a.   City of London during
Elizabethan times (must
include a map & points of
interest)

b.  Everyday Life of the People
(customs, food, entertainment,

map, laws of the time)

c.    Globe Theatre

d.  Elizabethan English

3. Each tour group will create a presentation (oral, video, PowerPoint
or HyperStudio) which will convince your fellow classmates to join
your tour to London. In addition to these four categories, the tour
group presentation must include the following:

a.   Tour group brochure (include the four categories)

b.  Delivery of a memorized soliloquy

c.    Renaissance music

4. Each group member will critique each group presentation using
rubric criteria

(see evaluation).

 

Process

1.   Students will be divided into cooperative groups

2.   Individual group members will chose one of the four categories
listed in number 2 of Tasks (all categories must be researched
and presented)

3.   Each student will formulate the following information on 4x6
note card for each site:

A. Bibliography card

1. author

2. title of the article within the web page

3. title of the web page

4. date web page

5. date web page was accessed

6. web address (URL)

B. Note cards

1. label cards according to topic areas

2. take notes from sites to support your task; one topic per card

3. organize cards by topic

4.   As a group collaborate to create a tour guide presentation

5.   Deliver the tour guide presentation

6.   Critique all other group presentations
