Awaehsaeh remembers his grandmother telling him traditional stories about Powwows. He remembers her telling him about the strong beat of the drum, the colorful clothing, and the delicious smells of the food. Unfortunately, he can’t remember many of the details. Can you help Awaehsaeh fill in the gaps to help him remember?

You will work in groups of five students.

Each person in your group will take on a different role. The roles are:

-Artist / Craftsman

-Musician

-Performer

-Fashion Designer

-Chef

Click into your area of interest to gather information. You will become the expert in your role.

Once you have collected your pictures, sound files, and information, work with your group to create one of the project ideas listed above in Task.

Your group will present your final project to the class.

By using the Powwow web site, your class will look into an event that has been celebrated for thousands of years. Through these many centuries, the traditions of art, dance, food, and music have been handed down from one generation to another.
