Introduction There are many important scientists that have contributed greatly to our lives in the science fields of chemistry, biology, physics, medicine, and astronomy. These accomplishments helped shape our world as we know it. Knowing more about the lives and works of these great people will not only enrich you, but help personalize their deeds.
Task In 3 weeks the Academy of Sciences is holding their awards banquet. This special banquet has the best scientists from all over the world, past and present gathered there. (They have a special time/space continuum transporter for this.)
You will work in a group of 3-5 scientific historians and find the World's Greatest Scientist in one of the following fields:

After careful research in your field you will nominate 4 different scientists in your area of expertise. Each person in your group will gather information about a specific scientist that you want to nominate. You will be presenting a compelling essay on each of these scientists achievements through a HyperStudio presentation, convincing the other historians to vote for your nominee.
1. Brainstorm with your group of historians 5-6 possible choices for nominees.
2. Check web site links for information on those specific scientists.
3. Narrow your choices down to 4 scientists that you feel are worthy of this award.
4. Create a HyperStudio presentation on your scientist.

5. After your group has displayed each of your nominees, the class will vote for the best that your category has to offer.

After investigating many scientists you have now probably realized that it was not always the person who was the best student, or had the highest IQ that helped develop the many inquiries and theories in the world of science, but the person who had an insatiable quest for knowledge and truth.
