Before using the WebQuest

Read aloud to your class, Tops and Bottoms by Janet Stevens. (Caldecott Honor Book)
Divide class into groups of 4
Print out grid and veggie clip art (on color printer if possible) to have available for garden grid activity
Make sure your printer is set up for portrait setting

Interdisciplinary Extension Activities:

Technology--Create "Name that Vegetable" slide show using slideshow software (PowerPoint, Hyperstudio, KidPix, ClarisWorks, ClarisWorks for Kids, etc.)

Language Arts-- Make riddles from descriptive paragraphs

Math--Create a garden stand

Social Studies--What plants grow in which regions, weather, soil, etc.

Art--Design a new vegetable for the new millennium

Physical Education/Health--Make graph showing nutritional and caloric values of vegetables. Students can keep log of vegetable intake.
