School Counselor's and Health Coordinator's Consortium
This program
has historically involved as many as 25 of 27 area school districts. With the
"sunsetting" of federal and state funds, CESA 8 Healthy Schools, Communities,
and Related Programs Consortium will seek private funding to maintain several
rural specific innovative and cutting edge programs.
The success of this cadre rests in its ability to tap the countless resources
housed within the 27 school districts and their respective 135 communities in
meeting the needs of our regions, schools, and communities. Examples of recent successes includes authorship of the CESA 8
School Counselor's Web Page and related curriculum resources, R.F.A.S.T., the development of the CESA 8 Rural
Middle School and High School Teen Institutes, and our longstanding initiative the
Masters of Education in Rural Holistic Health, and ATOD.
The CESA 8 Drug-Free Schools Consortium will
engage in the following activities as a priority:
-
Reformatting
our Rural Middle School and High School Teen Institutes.
-
Provide
training for additional mentor teachers to conduct the Middle School and
High School Teen Institute.
-
Continue
sponsorship of the CESA 8 Rural ATOD Masters Program.
-
Assistance
with various youth awareness programs sponsored in conjunction with the five
principle county prevention partnerships within our region.
-
Continued
authorship of Holistic Health opportunities to expand our menu of services to our
consortium districts and their respective communities.
