Holistic Health Resources to Reduce At-Risk Issues

CESA 8 continues to work with the 27 public school districts of our region to identify programs and other resources which compliment district efforts to reach students who are "At-Risk" of falling behind their age appropriate classmates. The term At-Risk represents a broad marquee. Today's students are at-risk for a variety of reasons, be they developmental, academic or social.

  1. Developmental
Since 1965 CESA 8 has worked in partnership with our member districts to develop high quality individualized I.E.P. for students who present as appropriate for current state and federal criteria. We invite you to click on the Special Education icon on this website to learn more about resources regarding this service delivery area.
  2. Academic
During the past 5 decades CESA 8 has offered a high quality, self contained, self-paced curriculum to compliment existing district curriculum resources. Our PASS and Mini-PASS curriculums have proven especially beneficial to migrant and transient students as well as academically challenged students who do not fit the excepted Special Education designation or category. We invite you to click on the PASS icon on this website to learn more about these exciting resources.
  3. Social
Beginning in the spring of 1989 CESA 8 working in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction expanded our "At-Risk" resources by establishing our former "Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug & Related At-Risk Department." Beginning in July 0f 2011 CESA 8 expanded the focus of this CESA 8 expanded the focus of this department and formalized these changes by creating the Healthy Schools, Communities, and Related Programs Department. CESA 8 remains a key player in partnership with our member districts, D.P.I., and the US Office of Education in developing rural sensitive and specific resources. These resources are geared specifically to assist our districts and their students in providing resources to address students struggling with social issues which include Traffic Safety, Alcohol and Arug Abuse, HIV/AIDS, Violence and Equity.

Over the past decade CESA 8 has developed these resources that we believe are sensitive and specific to our rural and suburban schools and their communities.
