Holistic Health Resources to Reduce At-Risk Issues
CESA 8 continues to work with the
27 public school districts of our region to identify programs and other
resources which compliment district efforts to reach students who are
"At-Risk" of falling behind their age appropriate classmates. The term
At-Risk represents a broad marquee. Today's students are at-risk for a variety
of reasons, be they developmental, academic or social.

Developmental
Since 1965 CESA 8 has worked in partnership with our member districts to
develop high quality individualized I.E.P. for students who present as
appropriate for current state and federal criteria. We invite you to click

Academic
During the past 5 decades CESA 8 has offered a high quality, self contained,
self-paced curriculum to compliment existing district curriculum resources.
Our PASS and Mini-PASS curriculums have proven especially beneficial to
migrant and transient students as well as academically challenged students
who do not fit the excepted Special Education designation or category. We

Social
Beginning in the spring of 1989 CESA 8 working in partnership with the
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction expanded our "At-Risk"
resources by establishing our former "Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug & Related
At-Risk Department." Beginning in July 0f 2011 CESA 8 expanded the focus of
this CESA 8 expanded the focus of this department and formalized these
changes by creating the Healthy Schools, Communities, and Related Programs
Department. CESA 8 remains a key player in partnership with our
member districts, D.P.I., and the US Office of Education in developing rural sensitive and specific
resources. These resources are geared specifically to assist our
districts and their students in providing resources to address students
struggling with social issues which include Traffic Safety, Alcohol and Arug
Abuse, HIV/AIDS, Violence and Equity.
Over the past decade CESA 8 has
developed these resources that we believe are sensitive and specific to our
rural and suburban schools and their communities.
